Open Your Home

Hurricane Katrina

The original purpose of this website, OpenYourHome.com was to help those made homeless in and around the city of New orleans after the devastation caused by hurricane Katrina towards the end of August 2005. It allowed people with room in their homes that were unaffected by the hurricane to offer help to the homeless by literally opening their homes up to those in need.

Of course, now that the disaster is far behind us and New Orleans is getting back on its feet, this is no longer needed. However, instead of allowing the site to fade into obscurity it has been restructured to provide information and resources for home improvements, refurbishments and even rebuilding. This way it is still of assistance to those who are rebuilding their homes and repairing the damage.

A full account of that terrible tragedy can be found here: Hurricane Katrina
